Mr. Arand is a registered patent attorney with 13 years of experience in the intellectual property (IP) sector, having worked in private practice, for technology startups, and for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Arand has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in the mechanical, electrical, chemical and software arts, with specific experience related to medical devices and implants, surgical methods, high pressure fluid processing, audio and video electronics, batteries and fuel cells, building equipment and materials, food processing devices, food compositions, software monitoring systems, chemical bioreactors, optics devices, and mathematical models.

Mr. Arand has extensive experience devising global IP strategies, managing implementation of those strategies, and enforcing IP rights. Besides general patent prosecution, Mr. Arand provides strategic counseling, due diligence research and analysis for portfolio acquisitions, and opinion work related to patentability, validity, noninfringement, and freedom-to-operate.

Mr. Arand has been involved in all aspects of complex patent infringement, antitrust and unfair competition litigation, for example, drafting motions, taking depositions, and preparing for and participating in numerous oral hearings and jury trials. Mr. Arand has also argued a wide variety of appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
