Mr. Arand is a registered patent attorney with 15+ years of experience in the intellectual property (IP) sector, having worked in private practice, for technology startups, and for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Arand has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in the mechanical, electrical, chemical and software arts, with experience in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) systems, satellite systems, medical devices and implants, surgical methods, high pressure fluid processing, automotive and other vehicular systems, audio and video electronics, batteries and fuel cells, building equipment and materials, food compositions, software monitoring systems, chemical bioreactors, optics devices, and mathematical models.

Mr. Arand has extensive experience devising global IP strategies, managing implementation of those strategies, and enforcing IP rights. Besides general patent prosecution, Mr. Arand provides strategic counseling, due diligence research and analysis for portfolio acquisitions, and opinion work related to patentability, validity, noninfringement, and freedom-to-operate.

Mr. Arand also practices federal district court litigation involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, false advertising, antitrust and unfair competition. In parallel with district court litigation, he brings and defends patent validity challenges at the U.S. Patent Office.
